This was State of Emergency’s first conference and focused on issues of successfully promoting black choreographic work. Based in the West Midlands, with a panel of movers and shakers in the industry and chaired by Wanjiku Nyachae, the conference attracted over forty delegates that covered promoters, venues, marketing personnel, artists and local authority representatives. The conference provoked much heated debate and laid the foundation for State of Emergency’s future conference events.
