THE BREATHE PROJECT
Deborah Baddoo was part of the creative team choreographing the Breathe project, an Unlimited Commission, produced by Diverse City as part of the outdoor opening event for the Sailing Olympics and Paralympics in Weymouth. EDUCATION
State of Emergency’s new national education project Re:Position is underway with workshops run by amazing leaders, Tony Adigun (Avant Garde Dance) and Vicki Igbokwe (Uchenna Dance Company). In Bristol we are working with talented young men to develop their skills, working towards a performance at the Harbourside Festival this summer. In London we have a group making their performance debut at the Cultural Explosion event at Rich Mix this Easter. Find out more
DESERT CROSSINGS
State of Emergency aims to develop its connection with Festival audience and live music. Desert Crossings tour performances included live music from our band and included an outdoor event at Exeter Respect Festival which gave us an exciting opportunity to engage ‘up close and personal’ with  new outdoor audiences. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2006
This project took place in Plymouth and was a partnership between State of Emergency, the Barbican Theatre, the Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council and AviD. It was a result of local women’s request to learn cultural dances from across the world, develop new skills and make friends. It featured high voltage drumming and dance from ToloKoTolo and DJ Omar, spinning world music sounds.
PER-MISSION
Now booking for touring in Spring 2014. This ground breaking initiative, targeted at young people, includes a touring performance show and inspirational educational programme. This production is aimed at turning the concept of sex education on its head. Per:Mission explores the joys and perils of love and sex through dance and music and goes where other shows fear to tread. Find out more
MISSION RE-POSITION 2006
Choreographers: Jeanefer Jean Charles, Menelva Harry, Louise Katerega, Zeze Kolstad. The showcase examined issues of women’s’ identity, from the exploration of female stereotypes to the iconic achievements of women through history. Find out more
TRANS-MISSION 2006
Choreographers: Donald Edwards, Maria Ryan, Bawren Tavaziva. Trans-Mission brought new, exciting and accessible Black dance to rural audiences in a show specifically tailored to the needs of small scale venues. Find out more
