State Of Emergency. The Independent Voice for Black Dance

This is a specially commissioned dance theatre show targeted at young children aged between 4 and 9 years, and their families.

Mini Mission, 2010: The Jingle Dress

“Mini Mission - The Jingle Dress", is a new and exciting dance show for young children, which celebrates ‘being who you are’ and ‘finding your own special path’. Inspired by Native American beliefs, the show will reveal to children that everyone has their own special gifts inherited from the people and places around them. A jingle dress is a traditional Native American dress that when worn to dance in, makes a sound as you move.

Choreographer: Adesola Akinleye

Adesola’s work as a performer and choreographer has been seen in Europe, the Caribbean and North America (Dance Theatre of Harlem). Her work has been commissioned by Arts Council Winnipeg (Canada), Arts Council England, Dance North West, Dance in Herts, Dancin’ Oxford, Manchester International Festival and Ludus Dance. Adesola has worked as a resident artist in a number of schools in London, New York and Winnipeg, and taught at the State University of New York, and the University of Manitoba (Canada). Adesola holds a Master of Arts with distinction in Work Based Learning, Dance in Education and Community from Middlesex University. She has been a recipient of the Bonnie Bird New Choreography award and a Trailblazers Fellowship by ADAD.
